Rosa Maria Leonard

My name is Rosa Maria Leonard. I was born in Cuba and came to Sweden in 1994. I am a trained opera singer, music therapist, and music teacher. I graduated in 1994 from the Opera College in Havana. I received my music therapy degree from KMH in Stockholm in 2007 and my music teaching degree from Stockholm University in 2013.

I have been involved with music my entire life until 2020, when I started painting. I had always wanted to paint but had not dared to do so. But in 2020, during the Covid pandemic, I finally found the motivation and started painting, inspired by Hilma af Klint’s paintings.

I have always been a great art lover and have visited many museums in several countries to admire the great artists. When I started painting myself, I found inspiration in great masters such as Gustav Klimt, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Chagall, among others.

I have found joy and inner peace through painting. I love mixing colors and often say that painting is my therapy.

What started as a hobby has become an important part of my life. Many people have told me that they feel happy when they see my paintings, and I continue to paint to spread joy both to myself and to others.
