Francesca Visocchi
My artistic research revolves around the exploration of textiles, sewing techniques, and their integration with other expressive forms, such as photography and printing. I use sewing as a means of expression, transforming traditional and unconventional materials into visual and tactile narratives.
In my works, I pay particular attention to detail and the dialogue between material and immaterial: from using the sewing machine to create freehand drawings to the “clorograms,” where the stitching of leaves is combined with solar printing. Through these hybrid techniques, I reflect on the relationship between nature and time, investigating concepts of permanence and ecological footprints.
An important part of my work focuses on textile collage, where I collect unused fabrics and textile scraps from tailors, even very small fragments, to give new life to materials otherwise destined for disposal. This artisanal process aims to raise awareness of the importance of reuse and the hidden value in discarded materials.
In my artistic journey, I strive to develop a poetics of thread and weave, where craftsmanship becomes storytelling. Through fabric and its connections, I create universal metaphors that bridge the personal and the collective, fostering a reflection on art as a vehicle for change and sustainability.
