Síofra Caherty’s passion for design has always been clear, but her journey from couture fashion in New York to launching her sustainable brand was driven by a deeper purpose: addressing the environmental impact of the fashion industry.

Using reclaimed truck tarpaulins and aeroplane seat materials sourced across Ireland, Caherty crafts stylish, durable bags while challenging perceptions of waste. Her mission extends beyond design, using her brand as a platform for sustainable activism, hosting workshops, and encouraging communities to embrace eco-friendly practices.

Caherty’s “drop” system, where her online store opens just one day per season, allows her to maintain sustainable production. Every drop sells out within hours, reflecting the growing demand for ethical craftsmanship.

To expand her vision, the Irish artist is developing a “farm to garment” initiative, inspired by the food industry’s farm-to-table movement. This project builds transparent, sustainable supply chains, from cotton fields in Greece to factories in Portugal, further cementing her commitment to sustainable innovation.

Her achievements include winning the RDS Craft Award in 2022 and mentoring students who have launched their own eco-conscious brands. As we can see, her approach to sustainable design fits perfectly within the values of our E-Art project.
