Alice Máselníková (view her profile here) is a Czech painter, curator, producer and manager based in Sweden. She holds a BA (Hons) in Art and Philosophy from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Arts and Design, Dundee; MA in Curating Art from Stockholm University; studied Fine Art at Universidad Politécnica de Valencia and attended a course at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.

Máselníková is not just an innovator in sustainable traditional art, but also a firm supporter of artist rights and independence. As one of the lead organisers of the independent art fair Supermarket, she helps create spaces for the avant-garde, the cutting-edge and the provocative – not just for herself but for artists of all countries and backgrounds. At this moment the preparations are well underway for this year´s edition of Supermarket, which takes place in an underground bunker underneath the town centre of Skärholmen on the outskirts of Stockholm, Sweden. As each year´s fair has a different theme, we look back on last year´s “Dream”, which was all about daring to imagine different worlds and possibilities, including dreams of a greener future. This year we are looking forward to “Passion” which can be described as the mania and madness required by artists to persevere, follow their dreams and change the world.

Alice also has a background in education and has designed courses for the prestigious Swedish art school Konstfack. Last but not least, she is one of the members of the artist- and curator-run collective Flat Octopus, which seeks to improve working conditions for artists through flat hierarchy structures. Flat Octopus organises residencies and resting periods for creatives, supports the mobility of artists and creates art exhibitions in the places you least expect, whether in a residential area of flats or underneath the town grocery store.

In E-ART, Alice is a beacon of the social sustainability that is necessary to establish environmental sustainability in both the art world and in wide society.
