Eugenio Shapoval (Ukraine, 1986) is an artist whose work embodies the powerful intersection of identity, memory, and emotion. Born in the post-Soviet landscape of Ukraine and later immersed in the vibrant cultural life of Spain, where he has lived since the age of 15, Shapoval’s art reflects a personal dialogue between two worlds. This duality—East and West, tradition and modernity—forms the core of his creative vision.

Shapoval is primarily a painter, but his work transcends the boundaries of medium. His visual language is deeply emotional, often abstract, and always introspective. Through the interplay of color, light, and form, he constructs what he calls “emotional landscapes”—spaces that prompt viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with their own inner worlds. He often works with contrasting elements—light and shadow, the real and the surreal—to explore the complexity of the human experience.

Central to Shapoval’s philosophy is the idea of the “subjective bubble”—the belief that each individual exists within their own unique world of experiences, perceptions, and truths. “The important thing is that everyone has their own subjective bubble, and that is beautiful,” he says. “We must accept and not fear every opinion and point of view.” His art serves as a gentle but insistent call to embrace empathy and curiosity over judgment.

As part of the E-Art Project, Shapoval brings this same sensitivity to material and process. His contribution to the initiative is a piece created from recycled paper, applied to a repurposed IKEA shelving unit. While the technique—transforming discarded cardboard into pulp, then layering it with latex and acrylic—is grounded in sustainability, it also echoes Shapoval’s deeper message: the possibility of transformation, the value of what we often overlook, and the beauty of giving new life to old forms.

By merging ecological awareness with his signature emotional depth, Eugenio Shapoval reminds us that art can be both personal and universal, expressive and responsible. At E-Art Project, his work stands as a testament to the power of perspective—how we see, what we feel, and the many ways we choose to create meaning in the world around us.
